Every Egypt Nile cruise on this page follows the same classic Luxor to Aswan route, with stops at Karnak, Luxor Temple, Edfu, Kom Ombo and the main Aswan sites. Because the route is the same, your choice comes down to the boat: cabin size, dining style and how many other travelers share the ship with you. Most Nile River cruises run 3 to 5 nights and sail in either direction.

When to go
The best time to visit Egypt
Egypt is a year-round destination, but the sweet spot for the Nile and sightseeing is the cooler season — sunny days without the summer heat.
- Oct – Apr (peak): mild, sunny days — ideal for the Nile & temples.
- May – Sep: hot but great value and fewer crowds.
- Hot-air balloon rides over Luxor are best at sunrise.

Nile cruise FAQs
Most Nile cruises last 3 to 7 nights. The Aswan to Luxor cruise takes 3 nights, the Luxor to Aswan cruise takes 4 nights, and a round trip takes 7 nights.
Both cover the same temples. Luxor to Aswan runs 4 nights with more time in Luxor at the start, while Aswan to Luxor is 3 nights and ends in Luxor. Choose based on your flights and how much time you want on the ship.
Price depends on ship category, cabin type, season and number of nights.
Nile cruise packages are typically full board, and many include guided excursions and entrance fees.
October to April is the most comfortable period. December and January are busiest, so reserve early.
Abu Simbel is not on the standard Luxoru2013Aswan route, but it is easy to add as a day trip from Aswan or by taking a Lake Nasser cruise.
Pack light, breathable clothes and a sun hat for daytime, covered shoulders and knees for temple visits, and a light jacket for cool winter evenings on deck.
